Use this guide when the domain is registered elsewhere or still points to an old host. Have the nameservers from your hosting welcome email ready.
Steps
- Sign in to the company where the domain is registered and open the domain or DNS settings.
- Find Nameservers, Name servers or Delegation. Choose custom nameservers instead of the registrar defaults.
- Replace every old nameserver with the nameservers shown in your hosting welcome email. Enter each hostname exactly; do not add an IP address unless the registrar specifically asks for glue records.
- Save the change. In cPanel, open Domains and confirm that the domain and its document root are correct.
- Wait for DNS caches to refresh, then test the domain on mobile data and another network. Avoid repeatedly changing records while propagation is in progress.
Verify the result
The domain should resolve to the hosting server and cPanel → SSL/TLS Status should list it. DNS changes often appear within a few hours but can take up to 24–48 hours.
Important: Changing nameservers moves control of the whole DNS zone. Copy any external email, verification or service records before changing them.
