Cancel hosting without accidentally losing a domain Print

  • 0

Hosting cancellation, domain non-renewal and data deletion are separate actions. Export everything first.

Steps

  1. Download website files, databases, mail and needed invoices; verify the archives.
  2. Move DNS, website and mail to the replacement provider and test before cancellation.
  3. Open the hosting service in the client area and submit its formal cancellation request with the intended timing.
  4. Review each domain separately. Keep auto-renew enabled if the domain must remain registered, or disable it only when you accept expiry.
  5. After confirmation, remove stored credentials and keep the backup for the required retention period.

Verify the result

The cancellation request should name only the intended service; domains that must remain should still show Active with future expiry.

Important: Cancellation can permanently delete server data. A backup inside the cancelled account is not a safe copy.
